Alberta Teachers' Association - Inclusive Learning Communities Grants

The Alberta Teachers' Association offers grants of up to $2,000 to help fund innovative projects designed to build inclusive learning communities. An inclusive learning community is a community based on the principles of respect for diversity, equity and human rights. Such communities foster and support the intellectual, social, physical, emotional and spiritual development of each child. Inclusive learning communities are characterized by cooperation, caring and respect. In addition, they are committed to promoting racial harmony; gender equity; First Nations, Métis, and Inuit education; the alleviation of poverty; peace and global education; the prevention of violence; and respect for all people.

British Columbia Teachers' Federation - Social Justice Grants

Social justice grants provide seed money for activities or projects that will bring about systemic change for social justice in schools, districts and/or communities in British Columbia. Bill 7 Award

The Bill 7 Award Trust Fund is formed to financially assist gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, transsexual, queer and 2-spirited post-secondary students who are active in the queer community.

The Dadson Scholarship

The SDS Award Committee makes its selection from among applicants on the basis of academic merit and the promise of excellence in leadership in the LGBTQ community.

Deadline for applications is Wednesday March 15 at 4:30pm (if March 15 falls on the weekend or holiday, then by the next business day no later than noon).

DalOUT Award

The purpose of this award is to assist students who can demonstrate a contribution to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community and to promoting awareness and acceptance of sexual diversity.

The Emperor I Sergio Apolloni Memorial Scholarship

The Emperor I Sergio Apolloni Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a student in an Sexual Diversity Studies undergraduate program on the basis of academic achievement. The SDS Awards Committee will consider all students enrolled in its programs; no application is necessary.

Graham Pinsent Memorial Bursary

The Youth Project offers a small educational bursary each year to an LGBT youth attending any post high school program. The bursary is in memory of Graham Pinsent, who was one of our original Youth Board members. His dedication to the Youth Project and his education has been honoured though this bursary.

Application deadline is June 30th 2012. A bursary of $500 will be awarded to the chosen recipient and will be disbursed in July.

Lambda Foundation Scholarships

Lambda Foundation raises money to enable universities to grant awards designed to promote national recognition of individuals or groups who, through their achievement, build bridges of understanding of gays and lesbians with other equality seeking groups, and the Canadian society.

The LGBTOUT Student Award

The LGBTOUT Student Award, established in 2006-07, is intended to honour outstanding volunteer activism and service.

Presented to a youth (25 and under) who has demonstrated a commitment to educating, engaging, and empowering his/her peers and community to create positive solutions to challenging issues in community, schools, or workplace.

Mark S. Bonham Scholarship for Queer Studies in Film and Video

This scholarship is dedicated to assisting LGBTTI-identified persons who are pursuing full-time studies in the fields of film and video.

The Point Foundation for LGBTQ students

The Point Foundation provides a wide range of scholarships for LGBT-identified persons pursuing post-secondary education.

Queen’s OPIRG Positive Space Award

The OPIRG Positive Space Award is presented to a full-time Queen’s University undergraduate or graduate student who has demonstrated leadership in the Queen’s and/or Kingston community in promoting the recognition and celebration of sexual and gender diversity.

Deadline for nominations is February 2012

The Rainbow Triangle Alumni Association Award

The RTAA and many community supporters established the RTAA award to be given to a student in a Sexual Diversity Studies core course on the basis of academic merit and promise of excellence in leadership in the LQBTQ community.

The Spirit of Will Munro Award

This $10 000 award is available to Ontario LGBTTQI2S youth (under 27 years of age), or an Ontario LGBTTIQ2S youth led organizations to establish an event, project, organization or business at the local level that uses the arts* and provides youth- friendly, sustainable community growth for LGBTQ people.

TD Trans Youth Scholarship Award

MCC Toronto and TD Canada Trust have partnered to start a new scholarship opportunity for transgender youth. The application is only open to Toronto Distric School Board (TDSB) students this year with eventual role out across the province and perhaps nationally.

TD Scholarships for Community Leadership

Pack something extra for school.  Up to $70,000 to be precise.  If you're a young Canadian who has made a difference in your community, we want to hear from you. The TD Scholarship for Community Leadership rewards students who have shown leadership in many areas including environmental cleanup, the promotion of social justice, and the fight against child poverty, to name just a few.

Toronto Distric School Board -  Director's Gay Straight Alliance Awards

The Director’s GSA Awards are designed to recognize and honour three outstanding Gay-Straight Alliances/Queer-Straight Alliances in the Toronto District School Board. Three $1,000 awards will go to student-led groups that have demonstrated a committed effort in helping create safe and more positive school climates for students and staff of all sexual orientations and gender identities.  While we recognize the responsibility those in power have in supporting the creation of safe, affirming and liberating schools for all students and staff – we also recognize the significant, unmatched and crucial impact that student leaders and peer educators have.  Apply now! 2010 Toronto Police Service LGBT Youth Justice Bursary

The 2nd Annual Toronto Police Service Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Youth Justice Bursary Award is presented by the Toronto Police Service, and the Toronto Police LGBT Community Consultative Committee (CCC). LGBT youth continue to be among the most marginalized youth in the City of Toronto. They often lack support from their, are at a high risk of getting in conflict with the law, developing substance abuse issues at a very early stage in life, and are seven times more likely to attempt suicide than straight youth. The bursary awards are an opportunity for the Toronto Police Service to recognize achievements made by LGBT youth in the City of Toronto, and support these youth in overcoming the very real challenges they often times face.


Tri-Pride Community Awards

The tri-Pride Co mmunity Awards recognize the accomplishments of Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgendered/Queer (LGBTQ) individuals and supportive groups and organizations within Waterloo Region. Making visible the work of these individuals and groups is truly important; it fosterscommunity engagement and rewards the services that people contribute to make Waterloo Region a betterplace for everyone.  Nominations for OUTstanding Individual, OUTstanding Youth, OUTstanding Business, and Robin’s NestCommunity Builder will be accepted between March 28th, 2011 and Friday May 6th, 2011
