Tegan And Sara Quin

Tegan and Sara are an indie rock/indie pop band consisting of Canadian, identical twins Tegan Rain Quin and Sara Keirsten Quin. Tegan and Sara were born September 19, 1980 in Calgary, Alberta. They initially played as PLUNK. In 1998, at the ages of 17, they made an early breakthrough by winning Garage Warz Battle of the Bands, a local music competition in Calgary. Since then, the two have toured extensively. They are signed to Neil Young's Vapor Records in Canada and to Sire in the United States. Although they are both open about their sexuality, the twins have expressed disappointment at the fact that their lesbian sexuality is often focused upon by the media, as opposed to just their music. The twins have released five albums to date, with the sixth on the way. While they are both similarly involved in vocals and playing instruments, the singing of the lead melody usually goes to whichever twin wrote the particular song. Some of Tegan and Sara's many accomplishments include: numerous nominations for Juno awards, gracing the covers of many magazines, touring with Neil Young and The New Pornographers, having their album So Jealous on the Rolling Stone magazine's top 50 albums of the year list, collaborations with various artists (such as Tiesto), and so forth. Their music has also been featured on many shows, such as The L Word, Veronica Mars, and Grey's Anatomy.
