Angela Robertson is the Executive Director of Sistering: A Woman's Place, which is a multi-service women's organization for marginalized, poor, and homeless women. Robertson is a former senior staff executive of the Ontario Women's Directorate, the Homes First Society, the Community Social Planning Council of Toronto, and the Women's Educational Press.Robertson is an activist in the black and women's communities. She is past Co-chair of Nightwood Theatre and currently Vice-chair and Board Member of the Central Neighbourhood House, a Board Member of Second Harvest, and the Chair of the Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (Black Cap).Robertson co-edited the book Scratching the Surface: Canadian Anti-Racist Feminist Thought, published by Women's Educational Press, and she coordinated Sistering's community-based research report "Common Occurrence: The Impact of Homelessness on Women's Health."In 2000, Angela was recognized by Toronto's Now Magazine as one of the Top 10 Community Activists on Social Justice Issues, and has also received both the Rubena Willis Women of Distinction Award for her work on violence against women and the Urban Alliance on Race Relations Award for her work on equality and social justice issues. In 2009 Angela was a recipient of Egale Canada's Queering Black History Campaign. She was also named as the 2009 YWCA Toronto Women of Distinction for Social Change for her tireless work on tackling the feminization of poverty.
