About

AboutThe "I Will Make It Better" Project is a campaign used to raise awareness about the effects of bullying and to have people take the pledge against bullying.Description The "I Will Make It Better" Project is a youth led organization. Our mission is to end bullying of all forms through education about the realities of bullying and emphasizing each individual's responsibility within their own community. We will share real life stories to inspire change resulting in a personal pledge to "make it better". The "I Will Make It Better" Project was co-founded by Jacques St. Pierre and the Student Council of the Etobicoke School of the Arts (ESA). It officially began on November 25th, 2011 when ESA took the pledge against bullying in a school assembly. The assembly featured dramatic performances, music, dance and film. We received support (in the form of a video) from Rick Mercer, the cast of MTV's 1 Girl 5 Gays and none other than Lady Gaga. Along with the assembly The "I Will Make It Better" Project featured information sessions for an entire week at lunch, a poster campaign, bracelets symbolizing the pledge taken, signatures from each student taking the pledge against bullying and a live pledge taken by each student at the assembly. We have received international press coverage and The "I Will Make It Better" Project has just begun. Our goal is to work with other schools to help them create a similar experience in their school. We hope to raise awareness about bulling and impact people to stand up against it. We have had the opportunity to speak to groups as large as 9000 students, visit schools across Canada, and lead anti-bullying workshops. On February 29th, 2012 we attended the launch of the Born This Way Foundation. We were invited by Lady Gaga herself and had the privilege of listening to her inspirational message as well as a keynote address from Oprah Winfrey. You can find links to our YouTube page and Twitter feed at our website: http://iwillmakeitbetter.org/ Thank you so much for your support and please join us and take the pledge.
